El Arco del Triunfo se encuentra en la confluencia entre el paseo de Lluís Companys, el paseo de Sant Joan y la ronda de San Pere, en la ciudad de Barcelona. 

Diseñado por el arquitecto José Vilaseca para la Exposición Universal de Barcelona de 1888.

The Arc de Triomphe is located at the confluence between the Paseo de Lluís Companys, the Paseo de Sant Joan and the Ronda de San Pere, in Barcelona city.

It was designed by the architect José Vilaseca for the Universal Exhibition of Barcelona in 1888.

La Ruta de Mario Vargas Llosa en Barcelona

Inicio de la Ruta Vargas Llosa en Barcelona

Hace algunos años decidí buscar el inicio de la ruta del Nobel de Literatura 2010, Mario Vargas Llosa, en Europa. 
Llegó en barco hasta Barcelona y se hospedó en la pensión Fernando de la calle Ferran del Barrio Gótico, a pocos pasos de La Rambla.
Tras su desembarco, narra lo siguiente:
"[...] Barcelona me parecía no sólo bella y culta, sino, sobre todo, la ciudad más divertida del mundo[...]. Me puse a caminar por la Rambla. Iba emocionado por las calles, con el Homenaje a Cataluña de Orwell en la mano, que había leído en alta mar. Pasé la noche en la Pensión Fernando, en la calle Ferran y, al día siguiente, me fui a Madrid en tren”
Y encontré la pensión Fernando, llamada ahora Hostal y Albergue Fernando. Entré a preguntar al encargado si sabía del paso de Vargas Llosa por ese lugar. "Pues no sabía nada". Esa respuesta tiró abajo todas mis demás preguntas como un castillo de naipes.
Tiempo después, en Booking, veo que la dueña agrega a la descripción del hostal que Mario Vargas Llosa se hospedó allí en 1958 a su llegada a la ciudad condal.
Estas son algunas de las imágenes que capturé años atrás del hostal Fernando, allí donde, por primera vez, durmió Vargas Llosa en España.

A few years ago I decided to look for the beginning of the route of the Nobel Prize for Literature 2010, Mario Vargas Llosa, in Europe.
He arrived by boat to Barcelona and stayed at the Fernando pension on Calle Ferran in the Gothic Quarter, a few steps from La Rambla.
After his landing, he narrates the following:
"[...] Barcelona seemed to me not only beautiful and cultured, but, above all, the most fun city in the world ... I started walking along the Rambla. I was excited by the streets, with the Homage to Orwell's Catalonia in hand, which I had read on the high seas. I spent the night at the Pensión Fernando, on Calle Ferran, and the next day I went to Madrid by train "
And I found the pension Fernando, now called Hostal y Albergue Fernando. I went to ask the manager if he knew of Vargas Llosa's passage through that place. "Well, I didn't know anything." That answer knocked all my other questions down like a house of cards.
Some time later, on Booking, I see that the owner adds to the description of the hostel that Mario Vargas Llosa stayed there in 1958 upon his arrival in Barcelona.
These are some of the images that I captured years ago of the Fernando hostel, where, for the first time, Vargas Llosa slept in Spain.
